Introducing the magnificent 153' Royal Denship Expedition Yacht, BIG ARON. With five decks she commands vast interior and exterior living spaces. Accommodations for 10 guests can be found in four staterooms below decks plus the master’s suite, with an office and a lounge, above the main deck salon and dining room. A further lounge on the bridge deck opens out to a bar with Argentinean BBQ for casual dining, topped by the sky deck with huge plunge pool, bar and sunning areas, plus an unparalleled view. The yacht is supported by a professional crew of ten headed up by Captain Will Kaye.

WILLIAM KAYE - Captain - British
Will was involved with the build of Big Aron and has been with her ever since. During this time he has gained an intimate knowledge of the yacht and her systems. Growing up in the North of England, Will started sailing at the tender age of 6 and has not looked back since. After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, he went on to run a fleet of yachts in Greece. Looking for new experiences Will set off for the Caribbean to Captain some of the highest standard charter yachts and is now enjoying the command of this world cruising Expedition Yacht. His extensive charter experience includes over 100 weeks of charter as a Captain. When Will is not working and the wind is right you will find him on the ocean practicing tricks on his kiteboard.
FERDI HEYMANN -Chief Officer - South African
Ferdi has now been on board Big Aron for over 2 years now and brings his wealth of experience gained from years in the industry ranging from luxury fast cruising sailing yachts to 50m plus motor yachts. Ferdi is in charge of our deck department and takes great pride in Big Aron’s exterior appearance and organisation. Personal and professional, he is a senior officer with an active role both on and off the deck. He prides himself on finding out about every detail of your destination so he can lead you and your friends to the most exotic dive spots or to a secluded lagoon. Unbeknown to the guests throughout your trip Ferdi quietly captures and collates the special moments of your trip so he is able to present you and your guests with a personalized DVD. Ferdi enjoys surfing, diving, kite boarding and wakeboarding.
BOBBY NEWITT - Chief Engineer - British
Our resident Chief Engineer hails from Plymouth, where the seafaring bug was passed onto him by his father. He spent his younger years in the Royal and Merchant Navy. Bobby has been tinkering with engines from the age of 16 and made the transition to yachts 5 years ago, spending the previous years gaining knowledge aboard turbine propelled liquefied natural gas carriers of over 200m in length with petroleum company Shell. Bobby has been with the Big Aron family for over 8 months now, a relative newcomer to the established crew, but he anticipates being here for many charters to come. Needless to say Bobby brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of Big Aron and her services. He is on call 24hrs a day to deal with engineering issues.
HELEN AUSTIN - Chief Stewardess - British
Helen began her yachting career 6 years ago working on a variety of sail and motor vessel chartering in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, USA and South Pacific. She takes much pride in maintaining the interior of Big Aron and a great eye for detail means this is done to an exceptional standard. Her key priorities are guest comfort and service. Helen’s aim is that once guests’ have experienced a week on board they’ll wish they could stay forever. She has a welcoming smile, always approachable and nothing is ever too much trouble. When Helen is not working she can usually be found with her nose in a book, taking an active interest in current affairs, swimming or when the opportunity presents itself playing the piano.
FRANZ HEYMANN - Bosun - South African
Franz grew up in a small town called George on the South East Coast of South Africa. Living near to the beach nurtured his love for the water and he still enjoys participating in all types of water sports from Kite Surfing to wakeboarding. He is always happy and ready to assist guests in any watersport activity and may be able to teach them a few new tricks. Franz has spent the last 4 years working on some of the highest class superyachts in the World and has recently completed the next level of deck courses putting him well on his way to obtaining his OOW certificate. As Big Aron’s designated Security Officer, guest and crew safety is a priority for him.
TERRY KERR- 2nd Engineer/ Deckhand - Australian
Terry is a real country boy who grew up on a cattle farm in central coast of New South Wales. Terry can fix just about anything from lawn movers to helicopters. He joined his first boat in 2007 and has not looked back since. He enjoys working at sea and the day to day challenges that his role on board entails. Terry is always eager to lend a hand and make your trip a memorable one, be it assisting with driving the tenders, ensuring the jet skies are perfectly tuned or the pool heated to just the right temperature. He is always keen to lend a hand in all aspects to ensure the best possible trip for the guests aboard. In his spare time Terry is currently learning to Kitesurf.
MEGAN FURNE - Stewardess - - Australian
Megan has numerous years of customer service and hospitality experience and excels at customer liaison. She has worked at some high profile restaurants and resorts both in Australian and England gaining food and wine knowledge and enjoys passing this onto the guests. Her eye for detail is clearly demonstrated in everything she does along with diligence and care in all her duties. In her spare time she enjoys range activities including sailing, diving and cookery.
ANDRE AMANCIO - Deckhand - Brazilian
Andre is the longest standing crew member aboard Big Aron joining the boat during the build process. He has worked in and around boats for 17 years. He grew up in Angra dos Reis, just south of Rio, an area that is among the best cruising grounds in the world. Andre is your go to guy. His attention to detail ensures that Big Aron is always kept immaculate. He is always ready to organize any adventure you may decide to embark on! Safety is his priority so you can be sure you are in good hands whilst having fun aboard. Andre recently completed his yachtmaster practical and theory deck qualification.
LUCY JONES - Stewardess - British
Lucy was born in South Africa and schooled in SA, the UAE and England. She has studied Tourism Management and spent some time developing her customer service and relation skills in the corporate world. Lucy has a wonderfully positive and bubbly personality. No job is too big and she throws an abundance of enthusiasm into every task she is given. During charter Lucy supports the interior team, assisting in all aspects of service. Lucy is an active person and her hobbies include running, cycling and diving.
