MAGRATHEA Crew Profile
Tim and Sibylla have worked in the yachting industry for five and half years, working together for the last four of those years. Both originally from the U.K., they have worked on a variety of boats throughout the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and in the UK. They very much enjoy managing and sailing Oyster yachts – this is their fourth!
Tim grew up in Indonesia and spent much of his youth sailing Dinghy and Hobie Cats off the coast of Java. From Indonesia he returned to England to read a degree in Business Studies, but after that, the lure of sailing and an outdoor lifestyle soon saw him on board a yacht heading to the Caribbean. Since then he has logged over 55,000 miles and 4 Atlantic crossings and has attained his RYA Yachtmaster Ocean qualification. Tim’s family runs a scuba diving business in Bali and in his free time he likes to help with the running of the dive boats.
Sibylla has always had a passion for cooking. Having trained as a Cordon Bleu chef at the Tante Marie School of Cookery, she has now had 10 years’ worth of experience in varied locations – a Michelin starred restaurant, private homes, chalets and yachts. She discovered great pleasure in the challenges of catering on boats, from developing skills necessary to produce excellent meals in a small galley, to sourcing both local and imported foods in exciting markets in different parts of the world. Having developed her culinary skills on board, she has also extended her ability to handle a boat by completing her RYA Day Skipper and STCW 95 course. She has also logged over 25,000 miles including two Atlantic crossings.
Tim and Sibylla very much look forward to welcoming you onboard “Magrathea”. They will do their upmost to ensure that your expectations are fulfilled and to give you a sailing experience you will and enjoy and treasure.
