VICTORIA D Crew Profile

Captain Gilles Bador, 48 years old, speaks French and English.
Captain 500 – STC W95 -
Gilles grew up on Yeu island, a small island close to the French Atlantic coast, where people learn to swim and sail before they learn to walk!
He has owned several small sailboats (from 20’ to 45’) on which he has cruised extensively in the Atlantic, including visits to the coasts of France, Spain and Portugal. He has also sailed extensively in the Mediterranean during his free time. He studied electronics and electro mechanics. He ran a restaurant in Nantes, France with his mother for 5 years and then bought, restored and sold apartments with his father after that. After his work in the restaurant and real estate sectors, he happily embarked as captain on S/Y BISON (85’) and sailed her for 15 years in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. He remains with the last owner of BISON, who found Victoria D half abandoned in Thailand and fell in love with her. Gilles helped him to return the yacht back to her former glory. After sailing her back to Europe and after two major refits as project manager in 2005 and 2007, Gilles knows the boat like the back of his hand. He has had some very busy and successful seasons in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
Gilles enjoys sports, such as swimming, diving, volleyball, rowing, boxing, and riding motorcycles. He also loves flying and earned his private pilot's license in Florida.
With 25 years of experience on yachts and with a depth knowledge of the East and West Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Asia, and the US East Coast, Gilles has the essential skills and sunny disposition to make a vacation on Victoria a safe and unforgettable experience. He is assisted on Victoria by two hostesses, one cook and a second mate.
Chef Michel Rideau, 47 years old, speaks French, English
CAP cuisine – Trained Chocolatier –
Michel worked for several years in restaurants in Washington, DC before practicing his art on yachts. He has worked on several sailing and motor yachts since 1988. In 2001, he took Third Place at the “Concours des Chefs” at the Monaco Classic Week and constantly works to improve his skills. His cooking is inspired by his travels. Michel specializes in traditional French cuisine, exotic cuisines and cooking with flowers. He is able to satisfy even the most delicate palate.
Hostess Florence Wolff, 32 years old, speaks French
Captain 200 – STC W95
Master's Degree in Multimedia Communications
Florence is fond of sailing having learned to sail with her family. After completing her degree, she worked for six years in a communications agency and sailed and raced on weekends and vacations. She left her job to complete training for her captain's license and embarked on Victoria in October 2011.
Hostess Melina Pitel, 28 years old, speaks French & English.
CBS STC W95
Melina worked as a waitress, barmaid and housekeeper for several years before working as hostess on motor yachts. Since 2008, she has been working on M/Y Idyllwild (145'), Monplaisir (148') and Sun Glider II (124'). She embarked on Victoria in October 2011.
Second Mate Julien Reynaud, 28 years old, speaks French, English
Engineer Mechanic, Captain 200
Bachelor in Sailing & Yachting Operations
As a child, Julien lived three years with his parents on a Couach 40’ in the Caribbean. He never lost his love of living close to the sea and once he finished his Bachelor, he spent four months working for Moorings in St. Maarten including ten deliveries for Moorings and Sunsail. After this he spent time working as deckhand on the motor yacht Hemilea (140') and the sailing yacht Idle (CNB 105').
He joined Victoria D in October 2011.
