Thank you August Maverick and crew! We couldn’t have dreamt of a better New England family vacation. Great times sailing, swimming off the back of the boat (66*F water was particularly refreshing) and the food was amazing! Special thanks for finding amazing 4th of July fireworks. Heading home refreshed and relaxed. Thank you Shawn, Victoria and Blair!

How can we begin to thank you for what has truly been a trip of a lifetime. Our group of ten had some unique needs, which were met with such kindness and compassion. You made time for us to have fun active outdoor activities as well as quiet, reflective moments. The boat itself is beautiful and we loved the many delicious meals shared.

Wow! What an amazing trip!!! From the moment we stepped on board, we knew this would be a trip of a lifetime. Every detail was though off…from the great meals to the wonderful moorings with great snorkeling, to even the swimming reindeer. Who knew Christmas at sea could be so fun and magical. Thank you for everything. Thanks for answering Parham’s questions, for accommodating Cooper’s fractured foot, for teaching Sam how to wakeboard and drink a beer while wearing a Santa hat, and for introducing Sambo to a moray eel, sleeping turtles, and ferocious shrimps. We are so grateful for all the memories, but even more grateful for our new friends. Look forward to seeing you soon either in NC or back on the August Maverick!

What an amazing sailing yacht August Maverick is!! What is truly amazing is Shawn, Victoria & Mark! You made our trip special for each and every one of us, including celebrating our anniversary and a birthday. You all made us feel super special, but Braxton especially felt like one of the crew members. He now wants to grow up to be a captain! We are sad to see the trip come to an end, but feel like we have created life long friends. We truly cannot wait for our next adventure again! Thank you so much for such an amazing vacation.

I anticipated this trip for 7 months and it was everything I hoped for! Thank you Vici and Shawn for sharing your beautiful boat with us and for all of the endless work you do to make your guests feel welcome and relaxed. The sites, hikes, and the water sports were all amazing! Angie’s culinary creations were spectacular and endless! You were so much fun to be with and were an integral part of our experience. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate my 50th!

We are honored to be the first trip back aboard August Maverick. Captain Shawn (Barba Roja) always seems to help us capture the perfect day. Victoria (Vicki Poppins) seems to be everywhere at once helping pull off the most wonderful vacation - not to mention the babies love her. Blair (frosted-top chef) out did himself with the food. Who knew “elevated comfort” would be exactly what we love. Thanks again and we can’t wait for the next trip!

From the moment we stepped aboard August Maverick we knew we made the right choice for our vacation. Shawn and Victoria you make a great team and work seamlessly together to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Thank you for bringing us to beautiful snorkeling spots filled with colorful fish and arranging great dive times for Martin and Gavin. The kids loved the tubing and the yummy mocktails. Martin appreciated being able to bounce all of his boating questions off of you. The food was AMAZING! We appreciated Greg’s flexibility when it comes to our picky eaters. We can’t thank you enough! We hope to see August Maverick sailing by in New England this summer!

We sailed on the August Maverick in late February 2020 Captain Shawn Deweese and his crew, Victoria and chef, Nate were incredible. The voyage exceeded all of our expectations. Shawn chose beautiful bays and coves to moor in with a good mix of serenity and activity. We had a nice mix of water sports such as SUPs, kayaks and snorkeling along with exploring local beaches and watering holes. We enjoyed cocktail hour with awesome beverages and sunsets. We chose half of our dinners on board, and the others at great beach restaurants. The accommodations on board were fabulous. Each berth has its own bathroom and the common areas are very comfortable. Truly was a trip of a lifetime, and I wanted to stay forever. In fact, I inquired if they needed a doctor on board. A lovely respite from a hectic job and cold Minnesota winters. I would enthusiastically recommend August Maverick to anyone wanting a Virgin Island sailing experience. I have traveled extensively, and this trip is tops in my book.

August Maverick is a beautiful vessel — classic design, tastefully updated and lovingly maintained — very well suited to larger groups regardless of weather. The lower salon and berths were spacious and comfortable, but the pilot house is exceptional. Bright and airy, it had enough room to shelter us from the occasional rain, and opened up easily to the aft deck when the sun was shining. It was our favorite space to hang out.
Shawn and the entire crew were outstanding hosts. They were competent, attentive and accommodating, as you would expect from a professional charter company. But what really made our trip so enjoyable was that the crew was also relaxed and fun. And patient — Captain Shawn was willing to share his local knowledge, love of sailing and pride in the August Maverick to answer our endless “newbie” questions.
We had a great trip and would recommend the August Maverick to anyone.
