Your one of kind vacation in the Bahamas aboard Penny Jo begins with an amazing Crew.
Meet Martin and Suzana.
They love their home country of Slovenia but have always had the wanderlust to explore beautiful places and experience new cultures.
Captain Martin
Captain Martin started his career on sailboats and later gained valuable experience on various yachts, sailing boats, and catamarans. For many years, he has been navigating the seas and oceans as a professional, licensed Captain. Guests return to charter again because of his positive and cheerful demeanor. Having a prior career in engineering provided Martin with the experience needed to manage and care for the yachts creating a stress-free and safe charter.
In addition to sailing, Martin enjoys freediving and swimming to connect with the marine world. In Martin’s words “Every moment at sea is an opportunity for new experiences and challenges, which I embrace with open arms. I enjoy connecting with people who wish to experience the beauty of the sea and provide them with unforgettable moments through my experience. My passion and love of the sea are the main reasons why I look forward to every new day on board.”
Chef/First Mate Suzana
Chef Suzana is a passionate sailor and gourmet enthusiast. Always with a smile on her face and tons of energy, she takes pride in preparing meals for guests with her personal flair. Her love for the sea and nature has been with her since childhood so she jumped at the chance to live on a sailboat with Martin.
Suzana learned to cook in her mother's kitchen and as a self-taught chef, enhanced her passion with additional culinary courses. She is always trying new recipes, as cooking is a way she expresses herself. Her precision and sense of design are evident in her culinary creations and other aspects of her life.
Traveling is her passion, but she finds exploring new cultures and flavors not only enriches her life but inspires new culinary endeavors. In addition to her culinary and sailing adventures, she worked for several years in the service industry, gaining valuable experience in hospitality and understanding the importance of excellent service. Guests appreciate her hospitality, precision, and cleanliness, which has been reflected in their positive guest reviews.
Martin and Suzana are always ready for new challenges and adventures, as they believe life is best lived fully and passionately.
In addition to their roles as Captain and Chef on charter yachts, they owned a beautiful Beneteau 345 sailboat for five years which they sailed extensively from Greece to Italy, Spain, the Canary Islands, and back to Spain via Italy, Croatia, Slovenia. They have also sailed and explored Australia, French Polynesia, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean Sea, the Adriatic Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Aegean Sea. Exploring new places inspires them as a couple as they discover the true freedom and beauty of the sea.
They look forward to the opportunity to share their travels and nautical experiences with you and show you the beauty of the Exuma Cays.

We loved our week on Penny Jo! Amazing boat with great accommodations. The captain, Martin, and chef, Suzane are knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and great to be around. Their confidence and skills put us and the other passengers at ease from the first day on board. One meal was better than the next, flavorful and healthy with a Mediterranean flare. The sights we saw were like nothing we have ever seen - crystal clear water with varying shades of blue and beautiful islands and beaches. Our trip to The Exumas Bahamas was definitely one for the books! It's hard to describe through words and pictures how beautiful and amazing this trip has been! Had the best and most unique experience on Penny Jo Sailing Charters. From when we were greeted at the airport to meeting the sailing hosts, and spending everyday exploring a new island... it was an unforgettable trip. Suzanna took such great care of us and catered the food to our likings throughout the trip. She always offered drinks and made sure we had everything we needed day and night. I had an unforgettable week aboard the Penny Jo, exploring the breathtaking Exuma Islands in the Bahamas. The private chef on board was exceptional, preparing a variety of delicious meals that delighted us each day. Our sailing trip through the Bahamas, specifically the Exumas, was simply fantastic! We saw so many marine animals, but the highlight for us was definitely the sea turtles. Had THE most amazing trip to the Exumas with my daughter and besties, and I have to share because this was everything I didn’t know I needed! At first, I wasn’t sure if this kind of trip was even in our budget, but once we saw everything included—private yacht, personalized excursions, incredible food, and top-tier service—it was worth every penny. The Penny Jo Sailing Charter was modern luxury. Spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with private bathrooms in every cabin—which, let me tell you, was priceless. No sharing, no waiting, just comfort. And the food? Not basic cruise food. Everything was made from scratch, customized to our tastes, and absolutely delicious. Every meal felt special, prepared just the way we wanted. Mornings with fresh coffee and a stunning sunrise? Perfect. WiFi to handle a few quick work things? Yes, but only until breakfast was ready when we wanted it. Suzana and Captain Martine treated us like royalty, catering to our every need and making sure we were 100% satisfied. What made it even better was how genuine and effortless their hospitality was—you could tell they truly love what they do, and that energy made the trip even more special. The excursions were exactly what we asked for—just the right mix of adventure and relaxation. Some days, it was peaceful, just us and the endless blue water. Other days, we wanted a little action, and they made it happen. It was the perfect way to unwind, reconnect, and actually slow down for once. We had a fantastic time with Captain Martin and Suzana on the Penny Jo. The meals were all wonderful and so were all the sights. From feeding iguanas and pigs to swimming with nurse sharks. This was our first time to the Exumas and our first time on a chartered boat. The trip was AMAZING! We are already thinking about when we can come back. I would highly recommend the Penny Jo and the Best Move crew! Every detail was taken care of for us! The food was amazing! Just got home from an unforgettable trip on Penny Jo for my 40th birthday celebration. I went with my husband and two other couples and had the best chef and captain taking care of us around the clock! Suzana was an amazing cook and Martin was exceptional with sharing the history of the beautiful islands and seeking out the best (practically private) islands where we got off the boat to relax on the beach and/or do excursions. We got to swim with the pigs, nurse sharks, turtles and snorkeled around various beautiful areas. Suzana and Martin made this trip so special for me and I will never forget it! We Just returned from a wonderful 7 day sail in The Exumas on The Penny Jo. Our crew Martin and Suzanna took great care of us. As you can see from the pictures the food was amazing. Martin made us fresh baked bread several mornings to accompany Suzanna's breakfast spread.We floated, snorkeled, paddle boarded, swam with the nurse sharks and pigs! We hope to return again soon.
